Reading Room


Rules and Regulations

Researchers in the NDC Reading Room are required to observe the following rules:

  1. FREE ADMITTANCE. Use of the NDC Reading Room is limited to readers age 16 and above who have a specific need for access to the collections of the NDC Reading Room and associated materials. Free access is granted for 3 months to all registered visitors, after which membership must be renewed.
  2. REGISTRATION. First-time users must complete the registration form on this page.
  3. COPYRIGHT PROTECTED MATERIAL. No copying or downloading is allowed in the reading room.
  4. SOME MATERIAL MAY BE NOT BE AVAILABLE. The NDC Reading Room is frequently updated and maintained. It is possible that some material may be temporarily unavailable or discontinued.  Report any serious technical problem to the reference staff via email to
  5. COPYRIGHT. The status of copyright in the published writings in the custody of the NDC Reading Room is governed by the Copyright Act (Title 17, USC). It is the obligation of the visitor to fulfill the requirements of the Copyright Act. Since the NDC Library ordinarily does not own the copyright in either published or unpublished materials in its custody, it can neither grant nor deny permission to publish or quote in published form from publications in its collections.
  6. VISITS TO THE NDC READING ROOM ARE TRACKED AND MONITORED. Visitors must follow all directions of the reference staff regarding the handling of Reading Room material.
